This was Murungi’s amazing response to an e-mail I sent him regarding Jesus Christ being God’s Son. Murungi (Not his real name) was a Muslim bus driver I met in Uganda.
The Call
This month I (Becky) have been asked to write our newsletter and I’m very excited to share with you all that the Lord has done! In the fall, I sensed the Lord leading me to attend World Trumpet Mission’s “Africamp” conference in Kampala, Uganda. Each year since we have been involved with World Trumpet Mission, the Lord has had me surrender the possibility of this trip to Him. I always came to a point of surrendering it, but I never actually had to go. This year as I was laying it down again, I sensed that it was my time to go. Everything came into place in a very short period of time and I soon found myself in Uganda.

The Call

In the fall, I sensed the Lord leading me to attend World Trumpet Mission’s “Africamp” conference in Kampala, Uganda. Each year since we have been involved with World Trumpet Mission, the Lord has had me surrender the possibility of this trip to Him. I always came to a point of surrendering it, but I never actually had to go. This year as I was laying it down again, I sensed that it was my time to go. Everything came into place in a very short period of time and I soon found myself in Uganda.

My Ugandan Adventure
Near the end of 2008 I found myself experiencing a deeper hunger for the Lord. My personal prayers involved several specific things, and God began to answer this heart-cry by sending me out of “my world”. I believe He allowed me to have this precious time to focus on Him and bring me to a deeper place of trust in leaving my family back home.
The most important thing I learned was a deeper understanding of what it means to be entirely consecrated to the Lord. Pastor John Mulinde, the President of WTM, said that the desire for the conference was not to have excellent teachings, but to enter into the presence of God and allow Him to change us. The Ugandan’s have suffered so much hardship, but through it all they have learned what it truly means to seek the Lord and be wholly consecrated to Him. Just like the Hymn says, “Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe”. He doesn’t just cover our sins, He owns us, and whatever He desires to do through our lives is His right. I’ve never experienced prayer the way I saw it there, and by the time the conference was over, I believe the Lord had given me something to take home regarding my prayer life.
The Lord also showed me how the Bible is absolutely essential for life. That sounds like an obvious statement, but the Lord took it much deeper in me. I realize that it is not an option but rather an essential component to knowing Who God is. I came home with the understanding that I must be saturating myself more in His Word. I also saw a humility and reverence for God and leadership in a way I’ve never seen before. Since I’ve been home, I’ve desired to walk much more humbly with God and with those in authority over me.
Midway through the trip, Chris and I realized that the Lord allowed us to literally switch roles! He was caring for our children and I was the one traveling away from our family and working with video J I felt a little timid at first, but soon began to enjoy recording people worshipping and praying. Sometimes I would sense the power of God from their worship begin to fall on me. I was able to get some wonderful footage for Chris and interview many different people from around the world regarding their time at Africamp. Hearing people share how God was using this time in their lives was very powerful to me. The video footage I got will help us to create a video to inspire others to seek God wholeheartedly, and possibly even to attend Africamp. Maybe it will encourage you to attend!

Fruit of Being in God’s Presence: Boldness to Witness for Christ
The Lord also blessed my witness for Him. I was able to share my faith with Muslim men and women from Pakistan, Kenya, and Uganda. He gave me boldness to just walk up to them in the airports or to speak to them if they were sitting next to me on the plane. I was able to clearly share the love of Christ and give away New Testament Bibles. I am currently corresponding with a Muslim family. The husband was a bus driver that I was able to share the Gospel with and he is now giving His life over to Jesus! The Lord is allowing me to disciple him and his family over the internet!

Renewed Sense of Calling and Purpose
The Lord also took me to a deeper place of seeing my responsibilities here in Orlando. In addition to being a stay at home mother, I also help to oversee the children’s ministry at our local church. We have learned from the WTM missionaries about prayer altars in the home. We have a church reading plan for our families to help them begin these family altars. Our desire is to see families read and fellowship over the Word of God and then worship and pray together as a family. We hope to draw the presence of God into our homes and see His purposes established through our families. Family altars are not new to America, but in many ways we have strayed from this important Biblical principal. (Genesis 18:18,19) Beginning with our own family, I am sensing the Lord intends to use my role with children to help establish these altars in our congregation.
Much Fruit in Media Ministry
Chris did very well in caring for the children while I was away. It was a precious and unique time for him. He shared with me that he gained more understanding of my world as a full time mother who also has a role in ministry. Prior to my leaving, he helped to complete a video entitled: Desperate for the Nations which seeks to give glory to God by testifying to the work He accomplished in various nations last year. I took a copy of it with me to Uganda and it was premiered during Africamp. Since this time, testimonies have continued to come in almost daily from lives who have been inspired by this video. Heading North
I end this letter by sharing that we will be traveling up north in the beginning of March in order to share the vision of what God has been doing through World Trumpet Mission. When we first joined staff with WTM in 2007, the ministry had agreed to cover a portion of our necessary finances for salary and ministry expenses. A few weeks ago we were informed that all staff are now being asked to raise their full financial need. The implications of this are scheduled to go into effect next week. We are thankful to be starting with some support however we do have a considerable amount to raise.
Chicago, Illinois was selected by WTM as the location for the 2009 - U.S. Leadership Retreat. Therefore, in order to help with this we are planning to travel through Tennessee, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio during a portion of March and April. If we have yet to raise our financial support during this time, we plan to travel to Maryland before heading home. We would truly appreciate your prayers during this time (our first time traveling to raise support with three little people).

We are so thankful to be working with this ministry! It has truly been an amazing journey that He has led us on. We are excited to share with others what the Lord is accomplishing in our nation through WTM. And we are very grateful to have you as a part of our team! Have a blessed day in Him!

A man by the name of “Michael” was identified during Africamp as someone who has a combination of real experience as well as a heart to help. This is already an answer to prayer! We now need the Lord’s wisdom on the specifics of timing, and a practical way forward.
Ÿ Please pray for our preparations and time spent support raising. Please pray for safety and good health as we are traveling. (*Specifically for the extended drive to Illinois with three little people J) We need to raise approx. $2,925/month (This includes media department expenses, salary, and health insurance).
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20,21
